If we are not merging the forum, what is the argument for using paid
software other than you imposed your choice over the community who
overwhelmingly does not wont it, including majority of developers
here.

No one has given even one VALID(all we got was FUD) reason for not
using any open source alternatives, so I do not see this decision as
being made on technical merits, but purely on personal preference.

I do not agree that we should support the decision "because we do not
want endless arguments", you mean to say anyone can get any crap
decision through if they stick to their unreasonable stand for long
enough just because we cannot make them see what everyone wants?
