Exactly - another sign that most people don't care about a name at all.
So why are all those people who don't care so keen on choosing a name?
And if you take a close look then you will notice which name is getting
the most votes ...

For me it isn't. For me it is a project identity, something that should
last for ages. It is the first thing a new user will see or hear of the
new project - it should be chosen by people who care about those things,
not by all those guys who don't actually care if the project is called
"horst the window manager" or "a thing that moves windows" ...

Yeah - the cube. I used it for about one year or so. I find it so
incredibly boring now that I wonder what people like about it - there
are so many more things possible that the cube became pretty lame
meanwhile ... Once we have input redirection we will hopefully see the
cube getting replaced by something cool.

Not everyone is part of that "whooohoo - wobbly windows and a cube
rule"-crowd.

Seriously - I really care about the project but I don't care about some
stupid, nerdy morons who are sometimes called "average users" ... The
"average user" doesn't know what's best for him - that's why nobody
cares for what the "average user" wants (at least in projects run by
grown-ups).

No - it was because the beryl core was unmaintainable and the beryl guys
realized that they can jump on the "compiz-train" instead of letting
their whole project die and being forced to re-join with compiz without
the possibility to make requests then. Compiz laid out the goals which
the beryl-project was missing from the very first day. Beryl NEVER had a
sane (i.e. realizable) roadmap or future plans/directions. The
beryl-guys' point of the merge was to save beryl by any means - nothing
more.

I proposed to name the whole thing "coco" long before the merge was
officially announced. The name "coco" has a deeper sense - it involved
the "community"-factor and that everything is built around compiz.
Additionally it is a girl's name (and an even better one than "beryl"
which is a granny's name) ...

And only to make it clear - I NEVER applied for being a "leader", I only
did and said things nobody else wanted to do or say. I never wanted to
have something back and I never wanted my vote to be better than others.
All I asked for was a clear separation of responsibility. I think this
makes me a much better leader than all you "discussion-addicts" ...

Some things have to be decided by people who know what they are doing,
not discussed by people who just want to be involved in things they
don't understand ...
