I'm not against a longer time period to nominate names if the consensus is 
that we need more time, but I am against an open ended selection process. I 
think one lesson we learned from the logo contest we held, was that when you 
have a long process eventually people start to lose interest, become 
impatient, or both. We saw people lose interest during the logo contest, and 
I think the recent name poll was rushed because people became impatient. We 
need to have pre-determined selection process and time frame to avoid these 
issues.

Another thing that should be considered is when our next release will be 
ready. I've heard bits and pieces on this, but I don't have a good answer. We 
need to be sure that we have a name selected before then so we don't hold up 
the release. Maybe some of the other devs can enlighten me on the release 
timeframe.
