[Compcomm] Deciding a name

I can live with Compiz Extra or whatever with compiz in the name,
personally, I don't dislike compiz because it was a Beryl antagonist
or something (Are you joking? Children should stay at home and avoid
participating to this discussion. Only a child would dislike compiz
"Just because of the old war....").
As I said in the Forum, I personally don't like the name Compiz at
all because it is refered to the fact that it is a compositor
manager. A working compositor manager already existed even under XP
to handle transparencyes. So I don't think it would be nice to focus
on the fact that it is a compositor manager, it is not that much a
revolution, it is only shameful that Linux didn't have a decent one
before compiz came (Except for xcompmgr). The fact that makes compiz
so special are the effects, all the things that make the desktop look
futuristic, much more usable and eyecandyed. Read cube, wobble (eye
candy side only), exposè etc.
That's one reason why I don't like compiz. The other one is that a
common user doesn't absolutely care about what a compositor manager
is and why it should nexist. They don't know about the transparency
issue. They only care about the fact that compiz or beryl or whatever
gives them a gorgeous desktop.
I really think that the name shouldn't be related to something
tecnical for those reasons. that's all. Look at OSX or Vista. Aqua
and Aero. Look at KDE4's desktop. Plasma. That's all. None of them
mentioned in the name the compositor function of they're compositor
manager. I'm not saying let's copy from the others but I'm saying
that this should give you a hint about what users whants.
