[Compcomm] Deciding a name

I think it is important that (part of) Jeff's vision
for the near future be reposted here, as it was posted
on page 40 of the name poll:
"Regarding the hosting of web pages, forums, etc.,
none of that was specifically decided ahead of time.
The important theme was that each division could focus
on it's specialty without interfering or taking away
from the success of the other. There are obviously
many conflicting opinions on how we should do this.
Personally I would maintain the existing wiki on
compiz.org with general information about the project
and links to the repos and mailing lists. I would
create a new user oriented site on newname.org which
has user/community oriented features such as blogs and
RSS feeds, and a combined forum would be linked to by
both sites."
One thing that everyone agrees on is that there should
be one set of forums - see "...a combined forum would
be linked to by both sites." The issue of forum
integration seems to be one of the biggest sticking
points preventing agreement here. Yet Jeff has said
that he foresees a combined forum.
My question to Jeff is how exactly is that combined
forum going to work? Does that mean one single forum
for both sites? Will each site have its own
(redundant) forum as well, because that would seem
pointless. Who will implement this plan and when, and
why hasn't that already happened?
My question to RYX and Mike Dransfield is: how does
this sound for a compromise? One forum, two web
sites?
If the idea for two web sites is still contentious,
then let's discuss it and try to reach a compromise,
but it looks to me like everyone agrees that there
should be only one forum.
