I would have really prefered if more people would answer on my more
serious mail. :)

I bet your friend didn't understand anything of what you say, except all
your friends are computer-freaks (which does not really represent the
average end-user). Even the term "window manager" will confuse most
non-Linux users - especially in non-english speaking countries.

He will also not know what open-source is - because he is not interested
in all that. He only sees a nice "Windows" that looks better than his
one. I assume this is one of my friends who don't know much about
computers.

You missed the point of my other mail. Everyone is free to create his
own community - but he shouldn't abuse this re-unification for it. The
whole oc.org-thing extremely breaks its original purpose.

Now there goes the user-friendliness and I have to help and install him
all the extra-stuff from all other locations because he doesn't want to
read a book only to be able to use his computer in a more "enhancing"
way. :D

Badly spoken most end-users are idiots if you want to see it like that
(I don't mean this offensive against anyone). That's why we do what we
do, right? Simplifying things and helping users.

You don't find that confusing?

Most windows users appear subnormal to me from time to time - but that's
the way it is. Bad information leads to bad behavior. ;)

I don't think it is accurate to confuse them and in the end do it myself
and they don't even know what the name of that "bling" on their desktop
is. They'll think it is "just Ubuntu - something like Windows" ...

I see things realistic. Realism often seems pessimistic beause in
reality there are obstacles and disadvantages which shouldn't get
ignored. I am an optimist, otherwise I would have given up long ago.
