Name: Corona

Domain name: Corona.org

Logo:
Not good at artwork, but a google search of "solar corona" provides enough sexy
images to set any artist worth their salt salivating! But as a (limited)
example how about a black disk covering the sun with the word "compiz" in the
centre and the word "corona" in a circle around/mingling with the glowing
corona. (told you i wasn't wery good with graphics, heh).

Top 3 Conflicts:
A beer (http://www.corona.com/)
A web design company (http://www.coronait.co.uk/)
A web design/integrated hardware company
(http://www.corona-technologies.co.uk/ct ... ntro.shtml)

Meaning:
Well for one thing the solar corona is a beautiful, colourful and fascinating
thing. It has heat, light, energy. It is fluid and flowing and always changing.
The corona also produces solar flares (check some of the images on web under
"solar flare") which are sudden/unpredictable/massive bursts of energy and
light, arcing into space. Also symbolically a logo using a shot of the sun
covered by a black disk, showing the glowing corona around it, could well
connotate the compiz-core being the "unseen heart" of the program, making up
the bulk of the power, and the corona itself could be the pluggins/eye-candy
wrapping. Flowing, glowing and fascinating around/being powered by the
furnace/engine of the compiz core.

Bad connotations:
Well, its also a beer, and a cigar - some people might not like those. other
than that can't see any. In most euro languages it seams to mean "crown". So
maybe republican's would hate it?! Heh.
